Mining Pumps Suppliers In South Africa

Mining is a process of extracting ores from earth which are valuable and can be made into useful item after processing. There are various types of pump used in the mining industries. The main use of pumps is abrasive sludge and media dewatering, mineral processing, slurry transfer, acid and chemical dosing, water supply, and wastewater transfer.

We at Sujal Engineering, are one of the leading industrial pumps manufacturers and suppliers in South Africa as per your requirement. The available pumps are:

1) Slurry Pumps

Slurry pumps for mining are able to handle a broad range of mining and mineral slurry and are used to pump thick and abrasive materials. A slurry pump is a centrifugal pump and is extremely durable to handle harsh fluids with minimum wear and tear to pump components. Know more about Slurry Pumps: www.sujalpumps.com

Slurry Pumps

Technical Specifications:

Range: 3″ to 12″ (75mm to 300 mm)
Capacity: 10,000 gpm (2257 m³/hr)
Heads to:  240 ft (73 m)
Pressure to:  150 psi (1,035 kPa)

2) Centrifugal Pumps

Centrifugal pumps are the most used pump type in the world. They are extremely robust, effective and relatively inexpensive. During mineral or ore processing, centrifugal pumps help in the separation of precious minerals from gangue and bitumen. Centrifugal pumps are also used to transport slurry which gets accumulated during the mining process.

Centrifugal Pump

Technical Specifications:

Type: End-Suction and Back-Pullout Type Centrifugal Pump
Capacity: up to 1100 m3/hr
Head:  up to 150 Meter
Pressure:  up to 15 kg/cm2
Size: 25mm to 300mm
Speed: up to 3500 rpm
Temperature: up to 350° C
M.O.C.: CI, CS, SS304 / 316, SS 304 L/316L, Alloy 20, Hast alloy B or C, CD4MCU, etc…….

3) Mud Pumps

Mud pumps are large pumps used to move heavy drilling fluid, known as mud, when mining for oil. The pump circulates the mud by pushing it down into the hole and then moving it back up again. The “mud” used is drilling for oil consists of emulsified water or oil, clay and chemicals.

Mud Pump

Technical Specifications:

Type: Self Priming Mud Pump (with Mech. Seal fitted)
Capacity: up to 75 m3/hr
Head: up to 45 mtr
Pressure: up to 5 kg/cm2
Size: 32 mm to 75 mm
Solid Hand Size: up to 25 mm

4) Rotary Pumps

Rotary pumps are capable of pumping more fluid than reciprocating pumps of the same weight. Unlike the centrifugal pump, the rotary pump is a positive-displacement pump. This means that for each revolution of the pump, a fixed volume of fluid is moved regardless of the resistance against which the pump is pushing.

Rotary Gear Pumps

Importance of industrial pumps for mining industries:

1) To remove suspended solids
Water that comes direct contact with the mining operation is often dirty and contains foreign materials such as drill cuttings and suspended solids generated by underground ramp traffic. Industrial pumps are required to dewater the area and keep it clean.

2) To avoid corrosion
The fluids in mining applications could be extremely volatile and can range from superheated water laden with pyrite, iron or sand, to emulsified brine phase. These fluids can corrode the mining assembly overtime and hence an industrial centrifugal stainless steel pump is of extreme importance here.

3) To avoid overheating
Suspended solids also can cause overheating by accumulating in the cooling chamber and, if concentrated enough, can damage the mining assembly chamber. Suspended solids are another reason to carefully monitor water levels and make sure dirty water is kept separate from clean water.

4) To remove abrasive media
Mining slurries tend to be abrasive and need to be pumped out immediately for a smooth functioning of a system.
